Apply

For a business application the financier usually asks for these documents. Five come from you, the vehicle details come from us.

  • Valid ID of the authorised signatory.
  • A recent extract from the Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
  • Recent statements from your business bank account.
  • For an established business, possibly annual figures or your most recent tax returns.
  • How much you are putting down, and whether you are trading in a car.
  • The vehicle details: registration, version and price.

If the application is declined

A lender can decline your application, for instance because of your payment history, the age of your business or the car itself. We have direct contact with our financing partners and can often place the application with another party. If it does not go through, it costs you nothing with us.

For a car from our own stock

Financing through us applies to a car from our own stock: we then supply the vehicle details straight to the lender. Seen a car elsewhere? Ask us. Sometimes we can buy the same car in for you.

Financial lease

Financial lease is a business way of buying a car. You are the economic owner from day one: the car is yours to use. The financier remains the legal owner, on paper, until the final instalment is paid.

The car itself is the collateral for the financing. That is why the financier looks at the year, the mileage and the residual value as well as at your business.

Pros and cons at a glance

Pros

  • You drive straight away, without paying the full amount at once.
  • Fixed monthly instalments, so you know in advance what you pay each month.
  • After the final instalment the car is fully yours.
  • No mileage limit.
  • You choose where the car is serviced.

Cons

  • You pay interest on the financed amount.
  • You are committed for the full term, including in a month when business is slow.
  • Early repayment is usually possible, but sometimes for a fee.
  • The car is the collateral, so you cannot sell it freely while the contract runs.

You can also take financial lease with us as a private individual. The construction is the same as for business: you pay fixed monthly instalments, you are the economic owner from day one and after the final instalment the car is fully yours. Maintenance, insurance and road tax are yours to arrange, as with a car you buy outright.

For private individuals this is consumer credit. The application runs through our financing partner, under their licence, and they check your income and creditworthiness. Leeuwesteyn Automotive does not provide credit itself. Please note: borrowing money costs money.

  • The car is the collateral, so you cannot sell it freely while the contract runs.

FAQ

Can I finance a used vehicle?

Yes, almost everything we sell is used and financing is perfectly possible for it. The lender does look at year and mileage; on an older car the term is often shorter.

What is the difference between financial lease and operational lease?

With financial lease you buy the vehicle and after the last instalment it is fully yours. With operational lease you rent: the leasing company stays the owner and usually includes maintenance, insurance and a mileage budget. We refer you on for financial lease.

Can I include the VAT in the financing?

Usually not. On a VAT vehicle the amount is financed excluding VAT and you pay the VAT yourself before delivery, after which you can settle it in your next VAT return. On a margin vehicle this does not apply.

I am a starting entrepreneur, is that possible?

It is possible, and some financiers accept an application without annual figures. A short track record does more often mean a higher down payment or a shorter term. Whether it works in your case is for the financier to say.

What happens at the end of the term?

Without a balloon payment the vehicle is yours after the final instalment. With one you pay that amount in full, refinance it, or trade the vehicle in with us against your next car. Exactly what is allowed is set out in the lender's contract.

Can I repay early during the term?

Most contracts allow it, but there can be a fee, because the financier misses out on interest. The conditions are set out in the agreement; if you expect to repay early, ask about it before you sign.

Is this registered with BKR?

A consumer loan is: it is registered with the Dutch credit register BKR in Tiel, and your existing credits are checked there during the application. For business financial lease in a company's name that is generally not the case, although a financier may still check the person behind the company.

Do I have to make a down payment?

Not always, but the lender can ask for one, for instance with a young business or an older vehicle. A down payment lowers your monthly instalment, and a car you trade in with us can be that down payment.
